Skin Care Routine

Most of my life, I was blessed with really nice skin. It wasn’t until almost two years ago that I started getting acne that became bothersome and would not go away. Before then, I could get away with washing my face with a basic cleanser one to two times per day and adding some moisturizer, but sure enough, that stopped to work. Over the last two years, I have spent big bucks on skin care trying to find the products that work best with my skin with no luck until these last couple of months or so which is why I’m writing this blog post. 🙂 I have tried drug store and high end cleansers, face masks, ointments, creams, and even essential oils. Finally, I have found a routine that I truly love and does wonders for my skin.

I do this routine twice a day, once in the morning before I get ready, and then again at night after I have showered. I do my routine in the morning because my face has been sleeping on a pillow all night and has picked up some unwanted particles, and then again at night because I’ve been wearing makeup all day and I don’t want to sleep with a dirty face.

Firstly, I cleanse my face with my Yes to coconut Micellar Cleansing Water in the coconut flavor. This one smells so yummy! One of the reasons I love this product is because it gets off all of the makeup and dirt that I have accumulated through the day/night. Another reason that I love this product is that it is 95% natural, it is made with out toxins and parabens, and does not test on animals.

Next, I wash my face with my Clinique acne solutions cleansing gel. This is a medicated acne fighting gel with salicylic acid which helps to unclog pores all while being oil-free. This has done wonders for my skin and has definitely become a must have. I wash my makeup off with a cleansing brush that has soft bristles on one side, and a rubber exfoliator on the other side to ensure I’m really getting the product into my pores and getting rid of all debris.

From there I use my La Roche-Posay Effeclar Duo acne treatment. This has been a game changer for me! I purchased this product on a whim without looking at reviews and I started seeing results within two days. I really struggle with acne spots that form after a breakout and this bad boy helped to lighten them up as well as get rid of my blackheads! This product is formulated with 5.5% benzoyl peroxide which according to the company’s website, this helps to penetrate deep into pores and clear away debris and oil. I apply this directly onto my problem area 2-3 times a day depending on the severity of the breakout and I usually see results within two days.

Next, I put on my First Aid and Beauty 5 in 1 eye cream. I originally got this product because I have horrible under eye circles and even if I get the best nights sleep, they refuse to go away. Most days I like putting on makeup but often I also like to wear no makeup at all but I hate that I have under eye circles. This product claims to smooth, brighten, even skin tone, nourish, and moisturizer the eye area. After the first night, I noticed that my eyes looked more brightened which I was more than excited about! I apply this once in the morning and once at night.

Lastly, I have been LOVING my Vita Liberata gradual self tanning lotion. Just coming out of winter, I am extremely pale and I want to look glowy and sun kissed by the time summer comes. If you’re like me and don’t agree with tanning beds but don’t want to pay for a spray tan, then this is the product for you. I was apprehensive with this product at first because it takes 4-8 hours to develop and initially I didn’t see a change in tone, but sure enough after a few hours, I was left with a really nice and natural tan. This lotion feels really luxurious and leaves my skin soft all while producing a really natural tan that isn’t too orange, which we all know does not look good! I apply this all over my body and my face for some moisture.

And that’s how I keep acne at bay all while achieving a fresh and glowy look. 🙂
